Ralph Hall announces he will seek re-election for his 16th term in Congress
Ralph Hall has declared he will seek another term in office. When his current term is complete, he will have served 30-years in the House. Winning a re-election would add two more years to his tenure.

Another cycle begins

I don't blame you if you run screaming from the room, hide in a closet and refuse to watch television or read newspapers. The start of a new election cycle, so soon after the dramatic conclusion of the last vote in Mount Pleasant, is hard to take.
Candidates are already out pressing the flesh since time, tide and the Texas elections calendar wait for no one.
The first day to officially file for the March 3 Primary is Dec. 3. Candidates have up through Jan. 4 to declare for their party's primary. Candidates from each party will meet in the Nov. 2 General Election.
You already know about the race for governor. Gov. Rick Perry and Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison have grabbed most of the attention in their battle for the Republican nomination. While the two Republican cheerleaders battle, the Democratic Primary looks like it was cast by Looney Toons. Running are Kinky Friedman, author and humorist, former baseball executive Tom Schieffer, Tyler rancher Hank Gilbert and Houston hair-products tycoon Farouk Shami.
Debates in these primaries will be "must-see" TV.
Of course, all of the state-wide offices will be filled for new four-year terms and we get to select a congressman. Rep. Ralph Hall, the oldest person in the U.S. House of Representatives, has declared that he will seek re-election.

I think it's pretty safe to say that this district won't be sending Ralph Hall back to DC. I have nothing personal against the man, but he's served us long enough, and his ideas are part and parcel of the ideas that have bankrupted the USA. We need some new blood in District 4, and I think Jim is that guy.
